Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America. As of 2023, it’s estimated that more than 4.8 million people were playing pickleball, and there are many local facilities supporting the trend with courts dedicated to the growing sport. If you haven’t already done so, you are probably considering building a new pickleball court or converting a seldom-used existing surface. Consider that four pickleball courts can be retrofitted onto an existing tennis court—if tennis traffic has been lacking lately, retrofitting for pickleball use can be an effective way to maximize utilization of your infrastructure while satisfying demand within your facility. When undertaking the development of pickleball courts, there are a number of factors to consider. One of the most important is your choice of surface. Durability, performance characteristics and color options are all desirable attributes that can elevate the pickleball experience at your park or facility—and your users will be happier for it.https://lnkd.in/dfUE_XmP

Friday Fun Fact: Pickleball Anyone?Court tenniswas the first paddle-and-ball game in the world. Henry VIII, one of the sport’s earliest and most fervent fans, erected the first pavilion at Hampton Court Palace, some 12 miles southwest of London, around 1527. It soon grew popular in France as well. By the late 16th century, the sport had spread across Europe and become a ubiquitous obsession: By 1596 Paris alone boasted more than 250 court tennis courts.Today, an offshoot of the tennis family tree is the immensely fashionable game of pickleball that is now the fastest-growing sport in the United States.. It’s amazing growth in popularity is in large part due to aging boomers who no longer have the endurance or interest in the much more demanding sport of tennis. Also, existing tennis courts are easily redeployed into four pickleball courts and the required gear is not expensive. In short, an effective use of resources and ease of entry for the player.Pickleball courts can pop up anywhere—backyards, parking lots, driveways—and perhaps soon the Olympics? With break-dancing, surfing, and skateboarding all included in the 2024 Paris Olympics, pickleball might not be far behind. This 4-minute video from the CBS “Sunday Morning” explores the surprising origins of this sport (including the origin of its name), https://lnkd.in/g5vAxKX8

Let me save you from potential frustration in your new home! Many buyers often assume they want to live right next to a park either for their own convenience or their kids’. However, you may want to think about this…Over the past year or two, many tennis courts have converted to pickleball courts as the sport has taken over communities! Although pickleball is a fun activity, it can be extremely annoying to listen to. So, if you’re thinking about moving close to a park, check out your proximity to any tennis courts that may be located within. By staying informed, you can avoid common relocation pitfalls and discover the ideal home for you and your family.#bewise #BeWiseWithBobWise #realestate #pickleball #relocating #ChicagoSuburbs #SuburbanLiving

Pickleball, it turns out, is an unusually loud sport. When the hard surface of the pickleball racket connects with the hard surface of the ball, sound waves vibrate rapidly, registering a decibel level of ~70 dBA at 100 feet from the court. Tennis is closer to 40 dBA.Although a solid hit reaches 70 dBA, the average noise level throughout a typical pickleball match which features lighter hits and moments of silence between hits is ~59 dBA, according to a research paper co-authored by Unetich. That number increases when multiple courts are packed next to each other, as is often the case.Pickleball hits also have a high pitch, with a frequency of ~1.2k Hz, which is roughly the same frequency as the beeping noise from a garbage truck backing up.

Tennis is hands down better than pickleball 🎾Now that I worked half of my followers up, let me break it down… Pickleball seems to have taken over the world (my world anyway, here in Florida from college students up to the retirees) 🏓But the why isn’t super clear…You go to pickleball courts and it looks like the below (super crowded)Meanwhile tennis courts at the same parks sit empty ✌️Then it hit me, pickleball is literally running the 2024 growth-stage playbook:1️⃣ Build a simple, cost-effective product with a…2️⃣ Low barrier to entry (minimal skills or cardiovascular strength needed) and…3️⃣ Create an ecosystem of evangelists (who then get other users…ahem, players)Gonna take a page out of the Warren Buffet book and zig (tennis) while y’all zag (pickleball): “Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful.”I’ll enjoy the open courts and extra cardio work 👀#ecosystem #growth #tennis #pickleball
