In honour of International Women's Day, and as part of the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting survivors of domestic abuse, Airbnb has announced a donation of £236,000 to Women's Aid Federation of England. This contribution will help Women’s Aid to enhance crucial local services, elevating quality across the sector and lifesaving support. As part of a wider commitment, Airbnb is also working with Women’s Aid to provide specialised training for our staff and Hosts, empowering them to recognise and respond to signs of abuse. We also co-hosted an International Women's Day panel today, featuring leading voices like Women’s Aid CEO Farah Nazeer and patron Melanie Brown MBE, which underscored the collective role in safeguarding survivors. As we continue our journey, supporting various organisations via the Airbnb Community Fund in 2024 marks a significant step towards tackling domestic and digital violence across Europe. Airbnb remains dedicated to fostering a safer, more supportive world for survivors and our wider community.https://lnkd.in/e78BbHVq#Airbnb #AirbnbCommunityFund #InternationalWomensDay

At Airbnb, we are very pleased the UK government has announced they are pressing ahead with a short term lets registration scheme for England. Airbnb has long led calls for the introduction of such a scheme because it helps strike the right balance. It will give local authorities the information they need to make informed decisions to tackle any local issues while protecting tourism and the everyday people who benefit from sharing their space with visitors. With this significant step now taken, we can get on with doing what we do best - enabling Hosts to provide unique, affordable experiences and helping to put money in the pockets of everyday families and local businesses. What a joy it is to team up with #OpenCities to support the 2023 Open House Festival, celebrating the opening up of some of the Capital’s most architecturally impressive buildings that Londoners walk past every day. Our partnership is founded on the mutual belief that London is a city best shared, working to open up homes; and in the process helping people to share great spaces, design and stories. Roll on September! #airbnb #openhousefestival #design #homesharing #openhomes https://lnkd.in/ejgwwEHY

Today is the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and I have been honoured to spend it in Dublin to launch the Safe at Home sanctuary scheme alongside our partners Safe Ireland. Funded by a €250,000 donation from Airbnb and delivered by Safe Ireland and their experienced team of service providers, the Safe at Home sanctuary scheme will expand previously unavailable protections for women and children escaping coercion and abuse.Airbnb started working with Safe Ireland in June 2020 with aninitiativeto provide free hotel emergency accommodation for domestic violence survivors across Ireland during the pandemic. We subsequently launched together a Survivors Fund in 2021, and we are proud to continue our collaboration with the announcement of the Safe at Home sanctuary scheme. It has been a humbling experience to work with the Safe Ireland team, led by the phenomenal Mary McDermott, and hear directly from front line service providers who work tirelessly to ameliorate the devastating impacts of domestic abuse, which sadly remains systemic, endemic and horrifyingly prevalent in almost every country in the world. Thank you to the Airbnb team, particularly Jean Hoey, Derek Nolan, Luke Impett and Theo Lomas, for your incredible efforts.

This week,Airbnb.orghit its goal of providing free, temporary housing to more than 100,000 people fleeing conflict in Ukraine. Reaching this milestone in just 6 months has been possible only due to the global outpouring of support from our incredible Airbnb Hosts,Airbnb.orgdonors and humanitarian organisations on the ground; thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you, also, to our founders and colleagues, in particular the airbnb.org and European Airbnb.com teams led so ably by Katherine Woo and Kathrin Anselm, for your tireless commitment, passion and unbelievable hard work. It is truly inspiring to see what we can achieve together when we ask the question, "How can we help?". From a converted chapel in County Durham to a 12th-century castle in Fife, historical homes on Airbnb in the UK saw an 80% increase in bookings in 2021. Through a new Historical Homes category, we offer almost 4,000 heritage listings in the UK and help guests discover architectural gems in less visited parts of the country. https://lnkd.in/eiwKnFvh
